Flowers during the spring and summer are so beautiful and fragrant. I love how perennial plants bloom at different times, providing an interesting assortment of colours and fragrances at any given time while attracting birds, butterflies and bees to the backyard.
For today’s blog post, I thought I’d do something different and share photos of the summer flowers currently in bloom in my backyard.
Many of these plants were already here when we moved into the house 7 years ago, and some I’ve added since then. We live in Thunder Bay, which is in the northwestern part of Ontario, Canada. Winters get pretty cold with windchill temperatures, at times, falling as low as -30°C to -40°C (in Fahrenheit that's -22° to -40°! Brrrr!). These plants are very hardy for our climate, going dormant during the winter months and coming to life once again when spring arrives.
Enjoy the photos!
